A New Chapter

Hello!

If you’re visiting this blog after seeing my announcement that I sold my company, Workweek Lunch, welcome and thanks for being here. Here’s the newsletter where I’ll share monthly updates about projects, business, travel, moving to a new state, what I’m writing and of course, my dog Coconut.

It took me a whole year to transition out of Workweek Lunch. Last Memorial Day weekend, it hit me that I had to move on, but my first instinct was to shut it all down and walk away. After getting lots of advice from trusted advisors, I made many attempts to re-engage with my work and figure out how to make it more fulfilling and enjoyable for me – something I wake up excited to do! But nothing stuck. Ultimately I decided the best option was to sell the company so it could continue to serve its customers and community, even if I wasn’t the one at the helm.

The process of completing this process was spicy, to say the least, and I will share more about what it was like here and in my newsletter. But for now, I’d love to touch on what I’m doing in the short term future.

I’m going to try to take all of July off, which will be challenging for me as I’m already itching to start the next thing. July is a big month even without work in the mix. My boyfriend and I are going to Hawaii to celebrate this achievement, his new job, and our one-year anniversary. Then I’m going to Wyoming with my mom to hike with our favorite hiking company. And I’m moving to California (with my bf)!

My goal is to not make content out of any of these trips or experiences while they’re happening. I want to fully enjoy them and be in the moment. Between the travel and packing, I plan on building structure into my time off by scheduling in writing, reading a ton, working on my flexibility (years of slouching hasn’t done anything for me) and going to the beach with Coconut as much as possible.

After my move, I’m going to start working again. Unless I come up with a brilliant idea on my time off, I plan to focus on a different brilliant idea – Dating Intentionally. Podcasting and writing about dating and relationships has truly brought me joy this past year and I want to dive deeper! I’ll likely explore biz consulting opportunities as well, just like I did when I started out.

Looking back on this year, it’s surreal to me that I actually do get to move on from Workweek Lunch without shutting it down. I still can’t believe it. Maybe it’s because my last day is in three weeks. Will it hit me then? I guess I’ll find out.

I have a lot to say about this transition, what I’ve learned in the process of building and selling a company, and how to manage all the emotions that come with it. I learned so much this year and I can’t wait to share. But for now, I just want to thank you for reading and for your support.
